A Delhi court has granted one day of police custody to content creator Amir Shokeen in connection with a case involving alleged racial slurs against a youth from Tripura. Delhi Police had sought six days of custody to interrogate Shokeen in connection with the case, but the court allowed only one day, according to the reported court development.

The case has attracted widespread attention following the circulation of a viral video that reportedly triggered a police investigation, public condemnation and demands for the preservation of electronic evidence. The incident has also renewed concerns about alleged racial discrimination against people from Northeast India.

In a significant development, a team from Tripura Police, led by DSP (Headquarters) Sumitra Debbarma, visited Sadar Bazar Police Station in Delhi following Shokeen's arrest.

Debbarma stated that a case had been registered in Tripura and that the investigation was ongoing. He added that further action would depend on the findings of the investigation and the applicable legal procedures.

The visit indicates coordination between the police authorities in Tripura and Delhi in connection with the case.
