The ‘TipraMotha’ MLA RanjitDebbarma has vented his ire over frequent change of his personal security officers (PSOs) without his knowledge and decided to let get of his PSOs and return to his village home, citing insecurity here in Agartala. In an interactive session with the media in his MLA hostel chamber Ranjit conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of ‘Durga Puja’ and ‘VijayaDashami’ and expressed his disappointment over the frequent shuffling of his personal security officers by the police administration without any information to him. “I have already written about the matter to the chief minister and concerned authority but have received no reply to letters; I find the atmosphere insecure in Agartala and shall return to my village home” said Ranjit.
He said that on several occasions he had written letters to the police authority seeking information on why his PSOs were being shuffled so frequently but the authority did not deem it necessary to inform him of the reasons for doing so. “There are many MLAs who have same set of PSOs for eight to nine years but in my case security officers are being changed frequently; this is strange to say the least and I find no cogent reason behind this” said Ranjit . He alleged that similar thing are happening in the case of a number of ‘TipraMotha’ MLAs and public representatives but did not blame any body. Ranjit said that reasons for all these should be disclosed.
“ I have released my PSOs to go back and join duties in other wings of their department ; since I have to take part in many programmes while I stay in town , I have now decided to return to my village home ; I have come from ground level and my people in villages are my best guarantees for security” said Ranjit. He indirectly took a dig at police officers at the higher level for playing with his security and appealed to the chief minister to look into these things, otherwise conspiracy against the government may gain in strength and this may also create internal dissensions. Ranjit said that he has no allegation against any individual PSO at personal level but added that he has had no discussion so far with the chief minister over this issue but may discuss the issue with the chief minister in future.
