The Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) has strongly condemned the alleged humiliation, verbal abuse and mockery of regional identity involving a youth from Tripura in a video reportedly associated with content creator Amir Shaukeen. The federation has demanded a fair, impartial and thorough investigation into the incident.
In a press statement dated October 20, 2026, TSF expressed serious concern over the alleged treatment of the young man, who reportedly identified himself as being from Tripura in the video. According to the federation, the youth was subjected to derogatory remarks about his physical appearance and regional identity, including references to Tripura as “Chutpura” and comparisons with international personalities.
The organisation also raised concerns over footage that allegedly depicts inappropriate physical contact with the youth. TSF stated that, if verified, such conduct would raise serious questions about personal dignity, bodily autonomy and the right to be treated with respect.
TSF Demands Thorough Investigation
The federation has called upon the concerned police authorities to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation, verify the authenticity and full context of the video, and establish the facts surrounding the incident.
It has further urged the authorities to investigate the allegations of verbal abuse and inappropriate physical contact and initiate appropriate legal action if the allegations are substantiated.
Emphasising that freedom of expression cannot be used to justify humiliating or degrading treatment, TSF said that mocking a person's regional identity, appearance or language should not be dismissed as entertainment.
Appeals for Privacy and Responsible Reporting
TSF has appealed to the public and media organisations to preserve relevant evidence, avoid circulating unverified claims and refrain from revealing the young man's identity without his consent.
The federation also made it clear that it does not support threats, hatred or mob justice. Instead, it called for lawful accountability and justice through due process.
“Dignity Is Non-Negotiable”
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the identity, culture, language and heritage of the people of Tripura, the federation stated that the state's people deserve respect rather than ridicule.
The press statement was signed by Hamalu Jamatia, General Secretary of TSF, and Pintu Debbarma, President of TSF.
