Tension has reportedly surfaced within the BJP’s Barjala organisational unit following an alleged incident of vandalism at the residence of Pranab Bhowmik, who had been entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the Mandal president for a temporary period. A group of miscreants allegedly entered his residence on the night of October 17 and vandalised a vehicle, windowpanes and other household property before fleeing the scene.

According to the information available, a police complaint has been lodged in connection with the incident. However, the alleged perpetrators had not been arrested at the time of reporting this morning.

The incident has raised concerns over the law-and-order situation and the reported factional rivalry within the BJP's Barjala Mandal, where differences between two groups are said to have persisted for a considerable period over organisational control and influence.

Following the incident, former Barjala MLA Dr. Dilip Das visited Pranab Bhowmik’s residence on the night of October 19 and spoke with him to learn about the circumstances surrounding the alleged vandalism.

The visit has drawn attention to the incident, which has reportedly caused concern among sections of the local political community. The circumstances leading to the attack, the identity of those involved and their possible motives remain to be established through an impartial investigation.

Local accounts suggest that two factions within the BJP's Barjala Mandal have been engaged in a prolonged struggle for organisational dominance. The alleged attack on Bhowmik’s residence has prompted questions about whether the incident is connected to the reported internal rivalry.

Separately, allegations have surfaced regarding the activities of a group reportedly involved in the illegal occupation and subsequent sale of government land in the area.

Local sources claim that the alleged activities of this group have remained a matter of concern.
