Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder has issued a series of strict instructions to clubs and organisations participating in the immersion of Durga idols at Dashamighat, emphasising discipline, road safety and the smooth conduct of the immersion ceremony.

During an inspection of the immersion site at Dashamighat on Monday, the Mayor made it clear that DJs and sound systems would not be allowed inside the immersion premises. The restrictions are aimed at maintaining order, preventing disturbances and ensuring that the immersion of Durga idols takes place peacefully and in a well-organised manner.

No Drunk Driving, Mayor Warns Clubs

Mayor Majumder directed all clubs and organisations bringing vehicles carrying Durga idols to ensure that their drivers do not drive under the influence of alcohol. He urged the organisers to remain vigilant and take responsibility for ensuring that drivers are in a fit condition to operate vehicles during the immersion procession.

The directive assumes particular importance as a large number of clubs and community organisations are expected to bring their idols to Dashamighat for immersion, making traffic management and public safety key priorities.

Strict Ban on DJs and Sound Systems

The Mayor categorically stated that the entry of DJs into the immersion site would be completely prohibited. He also warned that no one would be permitted to enter the premises carrying any kind of sound equipment.

The civic authorities will pay special attention to enforcing these restrictions to prevent unnecessary noise, maintain discipline and avoid any untoward incidents during the immersion process.

The administration and the Agartala Municipal Corporation are taking necessary measures to ensure that the concluding phase of the Durga Puja celebrations passes off without disruption.

Traditional Rituals to Mark the Conclusion of Durga Puja

Instead of DJ music and amplified sound systems, the Agartala Municipal Corporation plans to conduct the immersion ceremony amid the traditional beats of dhak, the ululation of women and the blowing of conch shells.

The initiative seeks to preserve the cultural and religious traditions associated with the immersion of Goddess Durga while ensuring that the celebrations conclude in a dignified and orderly atmosphere.

The traditional sounds of dhak, conch shells and ululation are expected to provide a distinctive cultural ambience at Dashamighat as the city bids farewell to Goddess Durga.

Final Preparations Underway at Dashamighat

According to Mayor Majumder, preparations for the immersion ceremony at Dashamighat have reached their final stage. The municipal corporation and the administration are working to ensure that the necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth and uninterrupted completion of the immersion rituals.

With strict instructions on driver safety, a ban on DJs and sound equipment, and an emphasis on traditional ceremonial practices, the Agartala Municipal Corporation is seeking to ensure that the immersion of Durga idols remains peaceful, disciplined and culturally meaningful.

The civic authorities have urged participating clubs and organisations to cooperate with the administration and follow the prescribed guidelines so that the festival concludes without any untoward incident.
