Resilience Starts at Home: MTSOU Marks Disaster Risk Reduction Day with Emergency Preparedness Demonstration

Highlighting the importance of preparedness and safety in the face of disasters, Mata Tripura Sundari Open University (MTSOU), Tripura, observed the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026 at its Agartala campus under the theme “Resilience Starts at Home".

The programme featured an address by Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam Kumar Singh and a disaster preparedness pledge led by Dr. Janata Sadhan Jamatia. Presentations on disaster risk reduction, first aid, emergency medical assistance and fire safety highlighted the importance of awareness and timely action during emergencies.

A practical demonstration of emergency evacuation procedures and disaster response measures was also organised to familiarise participants with essential safety practices.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ananta Singha Roy, followed by the National Anthem. Through the initiative, MTSOU reaffirmed its commitment to building a culture of disaster preparedness and ensuring a safer, more resilient institutional environment.
