Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday highlighted the important role played by Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers in implementing government policies, delivering welfare benefits and strengthening public trust in the state administration.

Speaking at a clothes distribution programme organised by the Tripura Civil Service Officers Association at the auditorium of the Nursing College and AGDC Complex, adjacent to IGM Hospital in Agartala, the Chief Minister described civil service officers as the backbone of the state administration. He stressed that their responsibilities extend beyond routine administrative work to ensuring that the benefits of Central and State Government welfare schemes reach ordinary citizens, particularly people from marginalised sections of society.

Emphasising the importance of accountability and commitment in public service, Dr. Saha said that officers must earn the confidence of the people through their actions rather than relying on assurances.

“People cannot be won over by merely making assurances. Real trust can be achieved only by working sincerely for them,” the Chief Minister said, according to reports of the programme.

He urged TCS officers to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, transparency and dedication, underscoring the importance of public-oriented administration and effective implementation of government initiatives.

The Chief Minister appreciated the Tripura Civil Service Officers Association for organising a clothes distribution programme for sanitation workers and security personnel of IGM Hospital and Dental College ahead of Durga Puja.

He noted that TCS officers, alongside their administrative duties, actively participate in social and humanitarian activities aimed at supporting people in need.

Their involvement in disaster relief operations, blood donation camps, distribution of winter clothing and other community initiatives helps strengthen the relationship between the administration and the public, he observed.

Dr. Saha also acknowledged the contribution of TCS officers to the successful organisation of important events in Tripura, including the G20 Science Plenary Session.

Highlighting the state's administrative reform efforts, he said Tripura had ranked first nationally for two consecutive years in deregulation and reduction of compliance requirements.

The Chief Minister's remarks underlined the importance of efficient administration, institutional coordination and the role of civil servants in translating government policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

Chief Minister's Secretary Kiran Gitte, IAS, TCS Officers Association Secretary Asim Saha, Director of Health Dr. Debashree Debbarma, IGM Hospital Superintendent Dr. Nirmal Sarkar and other dignitaries attended the programme.

The event combined recognition of the administrative contribution of TCS officers with a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting hospital sanitation workers and security personnel ahead of the festive season.
