Another senior IAS officer of the Tripura cadre is set to move to the Central Government, with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approving the appointment of Shri Brijesh Pandey, a 2004-batch IAS officer, as Joint Secretary in the Department of Capital Development.

According to an official order issued by the Government of India on October 10, 2026, Pandey will assume charge of the post for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He will succeed Ms. Thara D, IAS (Gujarat cadre, 1995 batch).

Pandey is currently serving as Secretary to the Government of Tripura and Chief Electoral Officer of the state. His appointment to the Central Government marks another significant transition involving a senior officer of the Tripura cadre.

During his administrative career, Pandey has held several important responsibilities in Tripura, including assignments in the Finance, Power, Jails and School Education departments. He has also served as District Collector and District Magistrate of West Tripura.

At the Centre, he has previously served in the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), among other assignments.

As Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura, Pandey has been associated with the state's electoral administration, including preparations for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls announced in 2026.

His appointment to the Department of Capital Development is part of a series of senior-level appointments approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The official order specifies that his five-year tenure will begin from the date he assumes charge of the new post.
