CPI (M) leaders distribute clothes and garments among poor people

On a day when the seniormost leaders of the party including the all India general secretary M.A.Babi, state secretary and politburo member JitenChowdhury and former chief minister ManikSarkr courted arrest in Delhi while participating in protest against the election commission and SIR process, the East Agartala local committee of the CPI (M) launched a social welfare programme. In the programme held in Banamalipur area of Agartala the CPI (M) East Agartala local committee distributed garments and other cut pieces of clothes among poor people as part of the pre-‘SharadiyaUtsav’ programme. More than a hundred people belonging to the poorer sections appeared in the programme and received the garments including ‘Sarees’ for women distributed by the CPI (M)’s sudivisiional committee secretary AmalChakraborty and East Agartala local committee secretary Sanjay Das.

There was no formal speech deliveries in the programme but a social interaction. Speaking to media persons AmalChakraborty, subdivisional committee secretary, said that this is part of the party’s ongoing programme. “We have been organizing such programmes without any din and bustle over the past many years but today’s programme and several other programmes held earlier have drawn the attention of media ; during the autumnal festival this is our way of helping people and keeping in touch with them” said AmalChakraborty. He also expressed satisfaction over the turnout of people and their enthusiasm for the programme.
