Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) leader Jitendra Chaudhury and other party leaders were detained by Delhi Police during a protest march in the national capital in support of the ongoing agitation by left-wing student and youth organisations and the CJP, according to the information provided.

The protest was reportedly organised around demands for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with demonstrators raising allegations of electoral irregularities. The agitation drew a strong police response, with security arrangements tightened across several parts of Delhi.

According to accounts circulated by protest supporters, Delhi witnessed extensive security deployment from the morning, with police personnel and paramilitary forces stationed at various locations. Restrictions on transport and movement were also reported, although the extent and duration of the reported disruptions could not be independently confirmed.

The CPI(M)'s headquarters, A.K. Gopalan Bhavan, was reportedly surrounded by security personnel as party leaders and supporters prepared to participate in the demonstration.

Manik Sarkar, Jitendra Chaudhury and other CPI(M) leaders who came out in support of the protest were detained by Delhi Police and taken away in a bus to an undisclosed location, according to the supplied account. The circumstances of their detention, the legal grounds cited by the police and whether they were subsequently released were not immediately available.

CJP founder and convenor Abhijit Dipke was also reportedly detained. A separate account claimed that he was detained while travelling by air from Mumbai.

Claims circulated by protest supporters described a large mobilisation of young people in Delhi, with one media report cited by them putting the gathering at more than one million.

Nitin Nabin Accuses Opposition of Trying to Destabilise the Country

Reacting to the developments, BJP national president Nitin Nabin accused opposition groups of attempting to create instability and disturb public order in the country.

In his statement, Nabin said an attempt was being made to create a dangerous situation in India and generate unrest among its 1.4 billion people, who, he argued, were contributing to the country's development in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.

He alleged that two groups were involved in efforts to create disorder. One, he said, was led by Rahul Gandhi and the opposition INDIA bloc, while the other was associated with CJP and Arvind Kejriwal's political circle.

Nabin claimed that the opposition had failed to accept electoral defeats and was instead attempting to challenge the democratic mandate by creating unrest. He asserted that the public had rejected these political forces and that their efforts to destabilise the country would not succeed.

These allegations reflected the BJP president's political assessment of the protests.
