Tripura University Observes World Mental Health Day with Awareness Rally, Street Play and Discussion on Women’s Mental Health

The Department of Psychology, Tripura University, observed World Mental Health Day by organising a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting mental health awareness and highlighting the importance of women’s mental well-being, particularly among women from nearby villages.
The programme featured an awareness rally, a street play (Nukkad Natak), and a discussion session focusing on women’s mental health. These activities sought to encourage awareness, promote open dialogue, and draw attention to the significance of mental well-being within the community.
Professor Partha Sarathi Gupta, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Tripura University, attended the programme as the chief guest. Professor Anjana Bhattacharya, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Alokh Kumar Pandey, Warden of the PG Boys’ Hostel and Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi, were also present at the event.
Students, research scholars, professors, and faculty members of Tripura University participated in the programme, reflecting the university community’s engagement with mental health awareness and outreach.
Through the rally, street play, and discussion, the Department of Psychology sought to emphasise the importance of understanding mental health, addressing associated stigma, and recognising women’s mental well-being as an important concern within the wider community.
The observance highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering awareness, encouraging meaningful conversations, and promoting a more informed and supportive approach to mental health.
