The speaker of the state assembly and veteran tribal leader of BJP Rampada Jamatya was admitted to ILS hospital yesterday with serious physical ailments . However, doctors in the hospital said that his condition is now stable as his ailments actually stemmed from old age. Former union minister of state and senior BJP leader Pratima Bhowmik today met Rampada Jamatya in ILS hospital and spoke to him . Pratima also spoke to doctors of the hospital and took the latest update on his health condition.
Sources in BJP said that the party is worried over Rampada Jamatya’s health condition as he is an important tribal leader of the party and is holding the important position of the speaker. Rampada had once been an employee of the ONGC and a leading figure in the Jamatya ‘Hoda’ (supreme community council) and had fought alongside former ‘Okra’ Bikram Bahadur Jamatya against the then banned NLFT militant group to protect the Hindu identity and culture of the Jamatya community from attacks of militants as well as Christian missionaries. It was because of the Jamatya ‘Hoda’s relentless fight that the NLFT militants could not harm the community and ordinary tribals in their religious and cultural life. He had joined the BJP before 2018 and got elected to the state assembly two consecutive times in 2018 and 2023 from the Kila (ST) assembly constituency.
The chief minister Dr Manik Saha also took information about his health condition and wished him speedy recovery. He is likely to be released from hospital in a day or two.
