Visitors including serious problems in meeting jailed relatives or friends ,no solution in sight , syndicate ‘raj’ at work in jail

The shifting of state central jail from Agartala to Prabhurampur in Bishalgarh subdivision seem to have created more problems than it has solved. Besides the remote location of the place , two kms right of the trijunction ahead of main Bishalgarh town, the central jail offers no basic facility for the large number of visitors including women who go daily to meet jailed relatives or friends.
Speaking on condition of anonymity a female visitor who had gone to the central jail in Prabhurampur said there is no shaded place for waiting visitors and men and women who go there have to stand below scorching sun or in rain . There is no autorickshaw stand either and the autorickshaws that carry passenger-visitors land them in front of the jail and return without waiting.
Worse, the visitors including women have to stand for a long time in open conditions after sending in paper seeking permission for a meeting with the jailed relative or friend. There is no public toilet and people including women have to unburden themselves in the nearby jungle where there is fear of snake bite. Apart from this, there is no arrangement for drinking water and the waiting visitors have to suffer a lot from non-availability of water and any food stall. Since there is no street light on the road and lot of crimes like theft, snatching and molestation etc take place on the desolate road between the central jail and Bishalgarh town.
The lady who spoke anonymously to a newsman of this portal said that a shaded shelter place with drinking water facilities, food stall and toilet facilities should be built within the central jail compound without any further delay to ease the suffering of the hundreds of visitors . Besides , a permanent autostand and regular lighting system on the road between the central jail and Nehal Chandra Nagar should be arranged .
