Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker and Bagma MLA Ram Pada Jamatia is currently undergoing medical treatment at ILS, a private hospital in the state after falling ill. BJP State President Abhishek Debroy visited the hospital on Tuesday and enquired about his health. He also held a detailed discussion with the attending doctors regarding Jamatia’s treatment and medical care.

Debroy prayed to Mata Tripureswari for the speedy recovery and long life of the senior BJP leader.

Jamatia, a veteran BJP leader and one of the party’s long-standing organisational workers in Tripura, is widely known across Gomati district for his active political and organisational work. He has also maintained a close relationship with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Long before the BJP came to power in Tripura, Jamatia was involved in strengthening the RSS and BJP organisational network across the district.

His illness comes shortly after the completion of the TTAADC Village Committee elections, in which the political outcome in his Bagma Assembly constituency has reportedly become a matter of considerable discussion within the BJP.

According to the latest data available on the State Election Commission’s website, all seven Village Committee seats under Bagma Village Council in Killa block of Gomati district have been declared in favour of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP). The SEC constituency-wise results show TMP victories in Bagma-I Seat No. 1, Bagma-II Seats No. 2 and 3, Bagma-III Seats No. 4 and 5, and Bagma-IV Seats No. 6 and 7.

The result is particularly significant because the BJP reportedly did not field candidates in any of the seven seats in the Bagma Village Council area. Consequently, all seven seats went to Tipra Motha candidates.

The election outcome has also revived discussion about the BJP’s organisational presence in the TTAADC areas. Jamatia, regarded as a senior and old-guard BJP leader, has consistently advocated strengthening the BJP’s own organisational structure within the ADC region. According to party insiders and local political observers, he has expressed this position strongly on several occasions, particularly ahead of ADC-related elections.

However, the BJP’s electoral strategy in the ADC areas has increasingly involved coordination with Tipra Motha, a political approach that has generated debate among sections of the party’s grassroots workers. The latest Village Committee results have once again brought the question of the BJP’s independent organisational footprint in ADC areas into focus.

Jamatia is understood to have been under considerable political and organisational pressure in the run-up to the Village Committee elections, particularly over the party’s strategy in the ADC areas. Following the announcement of the election results, his health reportedly deteriorated, after which he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

As Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and MLA from Bagma, Jamatia occupies an important position in the state’s political landscape. His long association with the BJP and his organisational work in Gomati district have earned him recognition among party workers and supporters.

The latest developments have therefore attracted attention not only because of his health condition but also because of the political significance of the Village Committee results in his own constituency.

The BJP leadership and party workers are now hoping for Jamatia’s early recovery, while the political implications of the TTAADC Village Committee election results continue to generate discussion within the state’s political circles.
