As part of its efforts to maintain peace and order during the four-day ‘Durga Puja’ festival this month in the area under its jurisdiction the West Agartala police station authority today held a meeting with the representatives of clubs and ‘Puja’ organisers in the government-run ‘Muktadhara’ auditorium. More than two hundred representatives of clubs and ‘Puja’ organisers attended the meeting .
The meeting was addressed by the SDPO Pannalal Sen and the officer in charge of West Agartala police station Sanjit Sen. Both the officers addressed the meeting and explained in detail the dos and donts on the part of the organisers of the community ‘Pujas’ and the devotees and revelers. “This ‘Puja’ is an annual festival of joy and celebration and we will stand by to help people including the organisers but at the same time maintenance of peace and order is also essential during such huge public festivals as occurs during ‘Durga Puja’; we therefore appeal to all the organisers of community ‘Durga Pujas’ to be mindful of proper discipline and order so that no untoward incident happens; we will be on duty round the clock to help all” said SDPO Pannalal Sen and OC (west) Sanjit Sen.
They specially reminded the ‘Puja’ organisers of the restriction put by the government on DJ sound system as per high court order and also the need for keeping space on roads for smooth passage of emergency vehicles like ambulances in public interest.
Several club representatives and organisers also spoke in the meeting and all of them stated that they will do their utmost to ensure maintenance of peace and discipline during the ‘Pujas’ they will organize. They requested the police authority to ensure deployment of adequate number of police and paramilitary personnel during the festivities of the ‘Puja’ days while assuring the police authority that restrictions imposed by police and general administration will be followed strictly by them.
