Woman Allegedly Assaulted by Tipra Motha Supporters After Objecting to Burning of BJP Flag in Balichhara, One Arrested

A 57-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted in Balichhara under the Kalachhara Block following a dispute over the burning of a BJP flag, with the incident reportedly taking place after the declaration of election results in the area.

The injured woman has been identified as Lenmonu Hui Halam, 57, a resident of Ward No. 1 of Balichhara under Kalachhara Block.

Dispute Allegedly Followed Burning of BJP Flag

According to allegations received from local sources, following the victory of Tipra Motha in the Balichhara area, a BJP flag was allegedly set on fire. BJP supporters reportedly objected to the act, leading to a confrontation at the spot.

During the ensuing altercation, a person allegedly associated with Tipra Motha is accused of assaulting Lenmonu Hui Halam. It has been alleged that she was kicked in the chest during the confrontation, following which she reportedly became seriously unwell.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and the exact circumstances leading to the assault are subject to police investigation.

Police Take Action, Alleged Accused Arrested

Following information about the incident, personnel from Churaibari Police Station reportedly reached the area and took prompt action. Police allegedly arrested the person accused of assaulting the woman.

The arrest is expected to be followed by an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the alleged burning of the BJP flag and the subsequent physical confrontation.

Woman Referred for Advanced Treatment

The injured woman was reportedly in serious condition after the incident. According to information available, she is currently receiving oxygen support and has been referred to Dharmanagar District Hospital for advanced medical treatment.

The incident has added to concerns over tensions surrounding the TTAADC Village Committee election results, with political supporters of rival groups reportedly involved in confrontations at several locations.
