Police vehicle as well as official vehicle of IG (law and order) Monchak Ippar pelted with stones in Kalikhali area

The day of counting of ballots of the Village Committee polls today is not passing off peacefully as hoped by the state police and general administration. Despite security arrangements made by police all over the potential troubles centres around the counting centres untoward incidents of political clashes and attacks on police have been reported.

According to information from the police headquarter a police vehicle numbered TR-07-1240 was proceeding from BDO office of Kathalia under Sonamura subdivision towards the Thalibari strong room where ballots had been kept. But on the way when the vehcle carrying police personnel reached the Kalikhali area a gang of unidentified miscreants, supposedly belonging to the ‘Tipra Motha’ pelted stones on the police vehicle, damaging the glass of the vehicle. No injury has been reported in the incident .

Meanwhile, unofficial sources including a private media outlet has been telecasting a news that the IG (law and order) Monchak Ippar’s vehicle had also been moving towards the Thalibari strong room as part of the convoy of police vehicles and it also came under attack. The glass of the vehicle carrying IG (law and order) Monchak Ippar was also broken but he did not sustain any injury . In the wake of the incident of stone pelting on police vehicles security around the Thalibari strong room as well as the counting centre in Kathalia block area has been further beefed up to avert any more untoward incident.
