Agartala, October 3, 2026
The draft electoral roll prepared in connection with the General Election to Municipalities 2026 has placed the total number of electors across Tripura’s 21 listed urban local bodies at 6,31,388. The figures reveal a notable gender pattern, with female voters outnumbering male voters by 13,377, while Agartala alone accounts for more than half of the entire urban electorate.
According to the draft elector data, there are 3,08,983 male voters, 3,22,360 female voters and 45 voters recorded under the Third Gender category.
The gender composition shows a clear female majority.
Out of the total 6,31,388 electors, female voters account for approximately 51.06%, while male voters constitute about 48.94%. The difference stands at 13,377 in favour of female electors.
The data therefore indicates that women have a larger numerical presence in the draft electoral rolls for the urban local bodies covered by the notification.
The Third Gender category comprises 45 electors, representing a very small proportion of the overall electorate.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation has by far the largest electorate among all the urban bodies listed.
Agartala has a total of 3,62,632 electors, comprising:
Male: 1,77,497
Female: 1,85,099
Third Gender: 36
Total: 3,62,632
Agartala alone accounts for approximately 57.43% of the total electorate covered by the draft list.
The female electorate in Agartala is 7,602 higher than the male electorate, making the gender gap particularly significant in the state's largest urban local body.
The 36 Third Gender electors recorded in Agartala also represent the overwhelming majority of the 45 Third Gender electors listed across all 21 urban bodies.
Sabroom has the smallest electorate
At the other end of the scale, Sabroom Nagar Panchayat has the smallest electorate among the listed urban bodies.
Its total electorate stands at only 5,740, comprising:
Male: 2,814
Female: 2,926
Third Gender: 0
Even in Sabroom, female electors outnumber male electors, although the difference is comparatively small at 112 voters.
Thus, the largest and smallest electorates show the same broad gender pattern, with female voters ahead of male voters.
Maximum and minimum male-female electorates
The comparative figures also provide an interesting picture of voter distribution.
Highest male electorate:
Agartala Municipal Corporation — 1,77,497
Lowest male electorate:
Sabroom Nagar Panchayat — 2,814
Highest female electorate:
Agartala Municipal Corporation — 1,85,099
Lowest female electorate:

Therefore, both the maximum male and maximum female electorates are recorded in Agartala, while both minimum figures are recorded in Sabroom.
Dharmanagar has the second-largest electorate
After Agartala, Dharmanagar Municipal Council has the second-highest number of electors with 32,563.
Its electorate consists of:
Male — 15,584

Female voters therefore exceed male voters in Dharmanagar by 1,395.
Udaipur Municipal Council follows with 26,771 electors, including 13,106 male and 13,665 female voters.

Female voters lead in most urban bodies
The draft figures show that the female electorate is higher than the male electorate in most of the listed urban bodies.
Notable female-majority electorates include:
Agartala — female lead of 7,602
Dharmanagar — 1,395
Udaipur — 559

However, some urban bodies show the reverse pattern. In Melaghar, male voters number 7,232 compared with 7,113 female voters, giving males a lead of 119. Bishramganj also records more male voters than female voters, by 147.
A highly concentrated urban electorate
The figures underline the enormous demographic weight of the Agartala Municipal Corporation in any statewide analysis of the listed urban electorate.
With 3.62 lakh voters, Agartala's electorate is more than 63 times the electorate of Sabroom Nagar Panchayat. The difference between the two is 3,56,892 electors.
The contrast demonstrates the wide variation in population and electoral size among Tripura's urban local bodies.
Electoral significance of the draft figures
The draft elector data provides the numerical foundation for the forthcoming municipal electoral process. While the figures remain part of the draft electoral roll, they offer an important snapshot of the size and gender composition of the urban electorate ahead of the Municipal Elections 2026.
The most prominent feature is the female numerical advantage, with women exceeding men by 13,377 voters statewide across the 21 urban bodies. At the same time, the exceptionally large electorate of Agartala means that developments in the capital's electoral roll have a substantial impact on the overall statewide urban figures.
