Post-Poll Attack on BJP Workers Near Mungiakami Condemned by Minister Bikash Debbarma, Calls for Strict Action

Senior BJP leader and Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma has strongly condemned the alleged post-poll attack on BJP workers and a vehicle driver in areas adjoining Mungiakami Block, calling the incident “highly condemnable” and stating that political violence cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

In a statement, Debbarma said that political differences and electoral competition are natural components of a democratic system, but disagreements must never be answered through violence, attacks or aggression.

“There may be differences of opinion and political rivalry in a democracy, but the response can never be violence, attacks or aggression,” the Minister said.

He further asserted that such violence in the name of politics would not be tolerated.

According to the Minister, the injured persons were initially taken to Mungiakami Primary Health Centre for treatment and were subsequently referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala for further medical attention.

Debbarma said he had personally enquired about the condition of the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.

The Minister also said that he had given clear instructions to the administration to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, identify those actually responsible and take strict action against the culprits in accordance with the law.

The incident comes in the aftermath of the TTAADC Village Committee elections, which were held amid heightened political competition in several tribal-dominated areas of Tripura.

Although the allegations of clashes and attacks in BJP supporters involving alience supporters of Tipra Motha miscreants are involved, but Minister Bikash Debbarma couldn't directly accuses the Tipra Motha, rather he demanded immediate inquiry and arrest those involved.
