Firing on Tipra Motha Candidate Sparks Road Blockade in Udaipur, Protesters Demand Arrest of Accused

Tension gripped the Udaipur subdivision on Monday following an alleged firing incident at Warengbari in the Maharani area during polling for the TTAADC Village Committee General Election–2026.

The incident reportedly left Khachindra Reang, 36, a Tipra Motha candidate, injured by a bullet. He was subsequently taken to Gomati District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, supporters and local residents reportedly blocked the road in Udaipur, since afternoon demanding the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the firing. The protesters demanded firm police action against the accused and raised concerns over the safety and security arrangements during the polling process.

A large contingent of police personnel has been deployed in the affected area to prevent any further escalation and maintain law and order.

The incident has also raised questions over how firearms were allegedly brought into an area where polling was underway and how such an attack could take place despite the security arrangements put in place for election day.

Tipra Motha supporters have alleged that members of a BJP-linked motorcycle group were involved in the incident. However, the allegation has not been independently established, and the identities.
