Tripura Physiotherapist Dr. Angshuman Dasgupta Honoured with ‘Significant Contribution Award’ at National Conference

Renowned physiotherapist from Tripura, Dr. Angshuman Dasgupta (PT), has been honoured with the prestigious “Significant Contribution Award” for his notable contribution to, and dedicated efforts towards the promotion and advancement of the physiotherapy profession.

The award was conferred during the World Physiotherapy Asia Western Pacific Regional Conference, held on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. The conference was organised by the Central Committee of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP).

Dr. Dasgupta received the award from Dr. Suresh Babu Reddy (PT), Vice President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, in recognition of his contribution and commitment to the physiotherapy profession.

Dr. Angshuman Dasgupta is serving as the Treasurer of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP), Tripura State Branch, where he has been discharging his responsibilities with dedication and sincerity. His professional activities also include serving as a physiotherapist at the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, operated under the Khelo India initiative of the Government of India in association with the Tripura Sports & Youth Welfare Department.

His work has contributed to strengthening the role of physiotherapy, particularly in the fields of sports and physical rehabilitation. The recognition at the national level has also brought appreciation to the physiotherapy community of Tripura.

The IAP Tripura State Branch stated that the honour would inspire physiotherapists across the state to pursue their profession with greater dedication, integrity and a commitment to public service. The branch also highlighted the importance of greater involvement of physiotherapists in socially oriented activities and initiatives aimed at improving community health and well-being.

Following the announcement of the award, IAP Tripura State Branch Chief Advisor Dr. Sujit Roy, State Branch President Dr. Birbar Debnath (PT), State General Secretary Dr. Somya Bhattacharya (PT), Joint Secretary Dr. Rajan Choudhury (PT) and State Head-Women Cell Dr. Rini Chakraborty (PT), along with other members of the IAP Tripura State Branch, conveyed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Angshuman Dasgupta on the achievement.

The recognition of Dr. Dasgupta at the World Physiotherapy Asia Western Pacific Regional Conference has been welcomed as an important achievement for Tripura’s physiotherapy fraternity and a recognition of the contributions being made by professionals from the state to the development of the field.
