ILS Hospitals Hosts Two-Day ILSCON 2026, Bringing the Future of Critical Care Medicine to the Northeast

ILS Hospitals, Agartala, successfully concluded ILSCON 2026, a two-day scientific conference focused on the latest advances in Critical Care Medicine, with participation from more than 250 doctors and healthcare professionals from Tripura, the Northeast, Kolkata and Mumbai.
The conference provided a platform for medical professionals to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging clinical practices and engage with experts across multiple areas of critical care.
The concluding day was attended by Dr Om Tantia, Chairman, GPT Group; Shri Saju Vaheed, IAS, Managing Director, National Health Mission and Additional Health Secretary, Government of Tripura; and Dr Bharat G. Jagiasi, Critical Care Consultant, Mumbai, along with eminent faculty members and delegates.
A key highlight of the concluding session was the unveiling of the ILSCON 2026 magazine, documenting the conference's academic journey and its focus on critical care, medical education, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Om Tantia recalled the journey of ILS Agartala, saying the project was conceptualised in 2006 and the hospital was inaugurated in 2011. He attributed the institution's growth to the trust of the people of Tripura and the dedication of its team.
Over the years, ILS Agartala has developed into a tertiary-care centre providing advanced services including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, cathlab and primary angioplasty, orthopaedic and spine surgery, minimal access surgery, comprehensive cancer care, critical care and Level-3 NICU.
Dr Tantia also emphasised the organisation's focus on patient-first care, empathy, transparency, ethical medical practice and adoption of advanced technology, while maintaining its core values.
Concluding his address, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Tripura, saying, “Thank you, People of Tripura. We are for you. We will be for you.”
The first day of ILSCON 2026 focused extensively on hands-on and practical learning, with sessions on Point-of-Care Ultrasound, including IVC assessment, cardiac function, airway and lung ultrasound. Participants also underwent workstation-based training.
Dedicated sessions covered advanced ventilation, lung mechanics, ARDS and COPD, with practical training on ventilator setup, alarms and troubleshooting, ventilator graphics, patient-ventilator asynchrony, PEEP titration, recruitment manoeuvres, prone positioning, auto-PEEP and dynamic hyperinflation.
The second day featured a wide-ranging scientific programme covering Respiratory, Cardiac, Nephro, Neuro, Gastro and Paediatric Critical Care. Experts discussed topics including ARDS, COPD, difficult-to-wean ICU patients, AI in critical care, antimicrobial stewardship, fluid responsiveness, shock management, echocardiography, vasopressors and inotropes, AKI, CRRT, neuro-monitoring, GI bleeding, acute liver failure and neonatal sepsis.
An interactive discussion on the current status of euthanasia added an ethical dimension to the scientific programme.
With participation from over 250 members of the medical fraternity, ILSCON 2026 brought together critical-care specialists and healthcare professionals from across Tripura, the Northeast, Kolkata and Mumbai.
The two-day conference combined hands-on training, expert-led scientific sessions, multidisciplinary discussions and academic exchange, reinforcing ILS Hospitals, Agartala's commitment to continuing medical education and professional collaboration.
ILSCON 2026 thus marked another significant academic initiative by ILS Hospitals, Agartala, aimed at bringing contemporary critical-care knowledge and clinical expertise closer to healthcare professionals in Tripura and the wider Northeast.
