Consumers facing problems related to electricity bills in Tripura will no longer need to repeatedly visit the offices of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to register or follow up on their complaints. TSECL has introduced a new Billing Grievance Registration System aimed at making the resolution of billing-related complaints faster, more transparent and consumer-friendly.

Under the new system, consumers can register complaints online through the official TSECL website, www.tsecl.in, as well as the Bidyut Bandhu website, www.bidyutbandhu.com. The facility is also expected to be made available shortly through the Bidyut Bandhu mobile application.

To register a complaint, consumers have to visit the relevant portal and select the Billing Grievance Registration option. They will then be required to enter their Consumer ID. The consumer's name, registered mobile number and email address displayed on the screen have to be verified before entering details of the billing problem in the grievance section.

Consumers will also have the option to upload supporting documents, wherever necessary.

After entering and verifying all the required information, an OTP will be sent to the consumer's registered mobile number. The complaint will be formally registered after the OTP is verified and the submission is completed.

Once the grievance is successfully registered, the system will display a confirmation message along with a unique Grievance ID. TSECL has advised consumers to preserve this number, as it will be required to track the complaint in the future.

As per the TSECL announcement the new system will also allow consumers to monitor the progress of their complaints without visiting a TSECL office.

After registering a complaint, consumers can select the Track Grievance Status option and enter their Grievance ID. By clicking on the track-status option, consumers will be able to see the current stage of their complaint and follow its progress online.

TSECL said this system is intended to eliminate the need for consumers to physically visit offices merely to enquire about the status of a billing complaint.

According to the announcement, a seven-day Resolution Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been fixed for billing grievances.

If a complaint is not resolved within the stipulated period, it will be automatically escalated to the next level. Initially, the grievance will be examined by the concerned official of the Revenue Cell. If necessary, it will subsequently move through higher levels, including the AGM (Revenue), Director and finally the Managing Director of TSECL.

The automatic escalation mechanism means consumers will not have to submit a separate application to move an unresolved complaint to a higher authority.
