Bamutia BJP ‘Mandal’ president’s younger brother beats up and breaks the hand of innocent minor boy, no action

Political power and overlordship seem to have reached the head and conscience of a section of BJP leaders who also enjoy immunity from police action because of their high political connections. The point is best illustrated by a recent incident in the residence of BJP’s Bamutia ‘Mandal’ president Shibendra Das.

According to details available from the area an innocent minor boy Aditya Barman (15) had gone to the residence of ‘Mandal’ president Shibendra Das on the night of September 19, the day after the ‘Vishwakarma Puja’ in the latter,s house the previous day. Aditya who comes from a very poor family used to do odd jobs in the ‘Mandal’ president’s residence at Noagaon area. But on the night of September 19 in front of many people the ‘Mandal’ president’s unruly younger brother Sankar Das suddenly went ballistic against Aditya and beat him up severely apparently without any rhyme or reason. In the process of beating Aditya got one of his hands fractured and was taken to Bamutia primary health centre.

However, sources said that Archana Das, wife of ‘Mandal’ president Shibendra Das and elder sister-in-law of miscreant Sankar Das got deeply miffed by the conduct of her brother in law and protested the beating of the innocent minor boy. She went to the extent of rushing to the residence of former BJP MLA Krishnadhan Das and complaining to him about what had happened to innocent Aditya Barman. However , there was no action against the misdemeanour of Sankar Das as his henchmen laid a siege around the residence of Aditya Barman to prevent him and his family from filing a formal complaint with the police.

Sources said that the incident put the media persons in the area on alert and , as a result, the police outpost in Bamutia stirred from their traditional lethargy. However, no action has so far been taken by police and it is also not known as yet whether any formal complaint has been registered against miscreant Sankar Das.
