AGMC & GBP Hospital to Inaugurate Super Speciality Block ICU and Central Sterile Services Department on September 21

A major step towards strengthening critical care and hospital infrastructure in Tripura is set to take place on September 21, with the inauguration of the ICU at the Super Speciality Block and the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) at AGMC & GBP Hospital, Agartala.

According to the official invitation issued by AGMC & GBP Hospital, the inauguration ceremony will be held at 11:30 AM on September 21, 2026, at the Super Speciality Block of the hospital.

Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will attend the programme as the Chief Guest and inaugurator. The event will also be attended by Smt. Mina Rani Sarkar, MLA, TLA and Chairperson of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), as the Special Guest.

Shri Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, will attend the programme as the Guest of Honour.

The inauguration of the ICU and CSSD is expected to add significant capacity to the state's tertiary healthcare infrastructure. An ICU in a super speciality facility is particularly important for the management and monitoring of critically ill patients requiring intensive medical and nursing care.

At the same time, the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is a crucial component of modern hospital infrastructure. It is responsible for the systematic cleaning, sterilisation, storage and supply of sterile medical instruments and equipment to different departments and operation theatres. Strengthening CSSD facilities can contribute to improved infection-control practices and safer surgical and procedural services.

The development assumes significance for AGMC & GBP Hospital, one of Tripura's major government healthcare institutions and a key referral centre for patients from across the state.

The hospital administration has invited healthcare professionals, officials and other stakeholders to attend the inauguration programme. Dr. Bidhan Goswami, Medical Superintendent and Head of Department, AGMC & GBP Hospital, has extended the invitation for the occasion.

The inauguration comes at a time when Tripura's healthcare system is witnessing continued expansion of specialised medical services and hospital infrastructure. The commissioning of the new facilities is expected to strengthen the hospital's ability to provide critical and specialised care to patients within the state and reduce the need for referrals outside Tripura for certain categories of treatment.

The programme will begin at 11:30 AM on September 21 at the Super Speciality Block, AGMC & GBP Hospital, Agartala.
