Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday reviewed the progress being made towards grounding investment projects for which Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, and directed the State administration to take time-bound steps to translate investment commitments into actual projects.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister was informed that concept notes and detailed project proposals for more than 158 investment projects have already been received. According to the information placed before the meeting, the proposed investments covered by these projects amount to approximately Rs.1.31 lakh crore.
The development assumes significance following the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, where the State government sought to showcase Tripura as an emerging investment destination and attract large-scale private investment across different sectors.
Dr. Saha reviewed the status of the proposals and the steps being taken by various departments to facilitate their implementation. Departmental officials have been examining the proposals and working on the necessary processes required for taking feasible projects towards the grounding stage.
The Chief Minister instructed all concerned Secretaries and Directors to prepare a 100-day action plan for grounding all feasible projects. The plan is intended to establish clear timelines and responsibilities so that investment proposals do not remain confined to MoUs and preliminary commitments.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for coordinated efforts among departments to remove procedural bottlenecks and facilitate investors in taking their projects forward. The focus, according to the directions issued during the meeting, will be on converting feasible proposals into operational projects at the earliest.
Dr. Saha also directed that the progress of implementation should be closely monitored at the highest administrative level. Chief Secretary of Tripura will conduct a monthly review of the progress of the projects and the steps being taken by departments to facilitate investment.
The monthly review mechanism is expected to assess the status of individual projects, identify issues requiring government intervention and accelerate necessary clearances and departmental coordination.
The government has linked the implementation of the investment proposals not only with capital inflow but also with the creation of employment opportunities in Tripura. The administration's stated objective is to maximise actual investment and employment generation by ensuring that projects found feasible after scrutiny are grounded within a defined timeframe.
The latest review therefore marks a shift in focus from the signing of MoUs and announcement of investment intentions to their actual implementation on the ground. The proposed 100-day departmental plans and monthly review by the Chief Secretary are expected to provide a structured mechanism for tracking the progress of the projects.
With more than 158 detailed proposals reportedly already received and investments estimated at around Rs.1.31 lakh crore, the coming months will be crucial in determining how many of these proposals progress from the documentation and approval stage to actual project execution and employment generation in the State.
