Police in Tripura have registered a case following a complaint that a minor student was allegedly assaulted by a teacher at a madrasa in Unakoti district, with the child’s family seeking legal action.
The incident was reported from Phulbarikandi Hafizia Madrasa in Barkhala village under Gournagar block of Kailashahar. The boy’s father, Manaf Ali, alleged that his son was beaten after failing to answer a question during his studies and sustained injury marks on his hands and legs.
Ali also alleged that his son had been subjected to physical punishment at the institution on previous occasions. He said he approached the madrasa authorities after learning about the alleged assault, but efforts to resolve the matter through discussion did not produce a settlement.
The father subsequently lodged a written complaint at Kailashahar police station around 10 pm on Sunday.
Ali said physical assault could not be justified as a form of discipline and sought an impartial investigation and action against those found responsible.
There were also allegations that photographs and social media posts concerning the incident were being removed under pressure. These claims could not be independently verified.
The madrasa authorities and the teacher identified as the ‘Chhoto Huzur’ were unavailable for comment. Police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
