In a bizarre incident a brother in law and father-in-law brutally stabbed to death an innocent house-wife before hundreds of people in the ‘Bhadra fair’ at Kamala Sagar yesterday. Both the killers were later arrested by police though the common allegation is that with prompt action at the time of the incident police could have saved the house-wife.

According to details of the bizarre incident available by sources from Kamala Sagar, Sanjit Nama (58) and his younger son Nayan Nama (29) , residents of Nehal Chandra Nagar in Bishalgarh, had opened a shop in the ‘Bhadra fair’ at Kamala Sagar. Even as transactions in the fair was going on yesterday in the afternoon Sanjit Nama came across his elder son Pratim Nama (32) and his second wife Sujita Nama (26) loitering in the fair. He immediately called up his younger son Nayan from home and he arrived on the spot . But suddenly miscreant Nayan Nama pounced on his sister in law Sujita with a big knife and started stabbing her right and left , making her fall on the ground even as Pratip stood petrified by the turn of events. The local people called up police and crtically injured Sujita was taken to Madhupur hospital where she was pronounced ‘brought dead’ by the doctor on duty. Later the police personnel from Madhupur launched a search operation and nabbed killer Nayan Nama from Hapania area and the father was picked up from a relative’s house.

Sources said that slain Sujita Nama was her husband Pratim Nama’s second wife and the couple lived in a rented home at Agartala even as Pratim’s first wife and two children live in the father in law Sanjit Nama’s home in Nehal Chandra Nagar . Pratim’s father was very upset over Pratim’s second marriage and had tried to persuade him to desert his second wife and return home but Pratim did not do so. Finally out of desperation the father Sanjit Nama and younger brother Nayan Nama committed the crime. Source said that , had the policemen on duty in the fair been more alert and proactive hapless Sujita’s life could have been saved.
