Tipra Motha Secures 1,548 TTAADC Village Committee Seats Uncontested, BJP Gets 82, West Tripura, Khowai and Sepahijala Lead the Way

The uncontested results of the 2026 TTAADC Village Committee elections have given Tipra Motha a significant numerical advantage even before polling takes place, with the party securing 1,548 seats uncontested, while the BJP has secured 82 seats. Together, the two parties have already secured 1,630 of the total 4,597 Village Committee seats without a contest, leaving 2,967 seats to be decided through polling on September 28.

The district-wise figures reveal a strong geographical concentration of Tipra Motha's uncontested victories. West Tripura has recorded the highest number, with 595 seats going uncontested, of which 574 have gone to Tipra Motha and 21 to the BJP. The largest Tipra Motha figures in the district are reported from Hezamara with 159 seats, Mandwi with 138, Belbari with 111, Lefunga with 80, Jirania with 43, Old Agartala with 24 and Dukli with 19. The scale of the figures makes West Tripura the single biggest district contributor to the overall uncontested tally.

Khowai comes next with 434 uncontested seats, including 418 for Tipra Motha and 16 for the BJP. Tipra Motha's numbers are particularly high in Padmabil, where it has secured 124 seats, Tulashikhar with 119, Mungiakami with 101, Kalyanpur with 42 and Teliamura with 32. The figures indicate a particularly strong uncontested presence for the party across the tribal-dominated areas of Khowai district.

In Sepahijala, a total of 353 seats have been secured uncontested, including 342 by Tipra Motha and 11 by the BJP. The most striking figure comes from Jampuijala, where Tipra Motha has secured 238 seats uncontested, the highest number recorded by the party in any single block in the data. Charilam follows with 77 Tipra Motha seats, while Nalchar has 24. The Jampuijala and Charilam figures underline the depth of Tipra Motha's grassroots presence in this part of the ADC area.

Gomati district has 132 uncontested seats, with Tipra Motha accounting for 122 and BJP for 10. Among the Tipra Motha figures, Ompi has 69, Killa 32, Amarpur 16, Karbook 4 and Matabari 1. In Dhalai, another predominantly tribal political zone, 52 seats have gone uncontested, including 51 for Tipra Motha and one for BJP. Tipra Motha's figures there include 27 in Salema, 13 in Manu, seven in Durgachowmuhani, three in Ambassa and one in Dumburnagar.

In South Tripura, 40 seats have been secured uncontested, with 30 going to Tipra Motha and 10 to BJP. Tipra Motha's strongest figures in the district are nine in Hrishyamukh, seven in Rupaichari and six in Satchand, while BJP has secured five seats each in Hrishyamukh and Rupaichari. North Tripura has 19 uncontested seats, with Tipra Motha securing 11 and BJP eight. The pattern is notably different in Unakoti, where all five uncontested seats shown in the data have gone to the BJP, while Tipra Motha has secured none.

Taken together, the district-wise figures show that Tipra Motha accounts for almost 95 per cent of the 1,630 uncontested seats secured by the two alliance partners. Its 1,548 uncontested seats are almost 19 times the BJP's 82. This gives Tipra Motha a substantial numerical advantage at the grassroots level before the September 28 polling.

The figures are particularly significant in the context of the BJP–Tipra Motha political relationship. Although the two parties are alliance partners, their candidate deployment demonstrates a considerable difference in organisational reach. Tipra Motha has reportedly fielded candidates in 4,279 seats, compared with 1,853 candidates from BJP. The presence of candidates from the alliance partners in overlapping constituencies also indicates that the alliance has not translated into a complete seat-by-seat electoral understanding at the Village Committee level.
