Bangladesh: Eight Hindu teachers of Faridpur served extortion notice by BNP-Jamat goons, threatened with death

An important feature of ‘Momin’ rule over infidels in the past was extortion of ‘Jijiya’ or poll tax in lieu of the right to live with their faith and culture on sufferance . The infamous ‘Jijiya’ is not in vogue any longer by that name but this has been replaced by plain extortion on pain of death or harassment for numerically weak minorities. The point is poignantly borne out by what is befalling Hindu minorities of Bangladesh. Even though countless cases of extortion are reported on day-to-day basis from different parts of the Bangladeshi hellscape , what is happening now in Faridpur district of that country is a stark case in point.

According to authentic sources from across the border, eight Hindu teachers of Sirajul Islam women college in Boalmari area in Faridpur district have been threatened with dire consequences including murder of themselves as well as their family members unless they pay up the extortion money , euphemistically called ‘protection money’ or ‘Rongdari’, within the next week. The seven college teachers who received the threat calls by mobile phones are Debsish Roy, Niloy Kumar Saha, Sajal Kanti Biswas, Pradip Kumar Saha, Robin Laskar, Swapan Kumar Biswas, Sanjib Kumar Roy and Paresh Kumar Paul. They have filed a general diary in Boalmari police station since they received the threat calls a week ago but, as always, the police that is in unholy alliance with the BNP and Jamati criminals have taken no action. The college teachers are now living with the threat of death and destruction of families hanging over their heads.

Meanwhile, Sandhya Rani Das (78), mother of incarcerated Hindu monk Chinmay Krishna Das , breathed her last yesterday at home near Dhaka, capital of Goddam Bangladesh, without having a chance to meet her only son for the last time. Monk Chinmay Krishna had been framed in a completely false case way back in November 2024 during the disastrous rule of interim government headed by Md Yunus and has been rotting in jail for the past more than one and half year. He has not been granted even a single day’s parole by the communal and anti-Hindu interim and the current BNP government of Bangladesh. Chinmay Krishna’s mother Sandhya Rani had petitioned the police and jail authority and even the Prime Minister Tarique Rahaman several times expressing her keen desire to see her son one last time before death. But the barbaric anti-Hindu government of Bangladesh never considered her petition and did not allow Chinmay Krishna even a day’s parole to meet his dying mother for the last time. This is the reality of so-called nationalist BNP-ruled Bangladesh.
