The Tripura Government has introduced evening Outpatient Department (OPD) services at every district hospital across the state, expanding access to healthcare and providing greater convenience to patients who are unable to visit hospitals during regular daytime hours.

The initiative has been undertaken as part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand medical services closer to the people. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has been taking several measures aimed at improving the availability and accessibility of healthcare services across Tripura, with a particular focus on ensuring that people can receive treatment without having to travel to the state capital for routine medical consultations.

Under the new arrangement, patients will now be able to avail themselves of OPD services at district hospitals during the evening from 5 pm to 8 pm. The extended service hours are expected to benefit patients, particularly those who face difficulties attending hospitals during regular working hours.

The evening OPD initiative was first introduced at Gomati District Hospital on July 14, 2026, following an inspection of the hospital’s overall healthcare services by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, IAS. Following the experience at Gomati District Hospital, the government has now extended the evening OPD facility to the remaining district hospitals across the state.

The expansion is also expected to help reduce the pressure on major state-level healthcare institutions, including Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital, by enabling patients to access routine outpatient treatment and consultations at hospitals closer to their homes.

The government expects the extended OPD hours to improve patient convenience, strengthen district-level healthcare delivery and make medical services more accessible to people across Tripura.
