Serious allegations of ticket brokerage and seat selling have surfaced within the Tipra Motha, triggering fresh controversy and raising questions over the party’s internal functioning ahead of the upcoming TTAADC Village Committee elections.

The allegations were reportedly levelled against Motha MDC Devid Murasingh in a social-media post on Monday, September 7. The post, attributed to a prominent youth leader and MDC from the party, has generated considerable political discussion in Tripura and is being viewed as an indication of growing internal differences within the ruling alliance.

According to the allegations, the concerned MDC has been accused of attempting to influence the selection of candidates for the Village Committee elections through financial considerations. The post reportedly alleged that efforts were being made to sell tickets for electoral seats, particularly in five important Village Committees falling under the electoral constituency covering Kathaliya, Mirza and Rajapur areas, as well as the Santirbazar subdivision.

The five Village Committees reportedly named in the allegations are Salthanga, Manu, Manu Rajapur, Bir Chandra and Paitchhari.

The social-media post reportedly called upon the party leadership to take serious note of the allegations and warned against what was described as the activities of “business-minded leaders” within the organisation.
