Tripura Bar Association Mourns Passing of Veteran Advocate Leena Chakraborty

The Tripura Bar Association, Agartala, has expressed profound grief over the passing of veteran advocate Leena Chakraborty, describing her as a valued, respected and long-standing member of the association.

A condolence resolution was adopted by members of the Tripura Bar Association at a meeting held on September 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Bar Hall, Room No. 1, Tripura Bar Association, Agartala. The meeting was convened to mourn her death and pay tribute to her long association with the legal profession.

According to the resolution, Chakraborty joined the Tripura Bar Association on February 14, 1979, and continued her legal practice with sincerity, dignity and commitment until 2012. The association noted that she held the distinction of being the first woman advocate of the Tripura Bar Association.

During her long professional career, she earned the respect and affection of fellow members of the Bar. The association remembered her for her sincere approach to the legal profession, dignified conduct, amiable nature and cordial relations with colleagues. Her dedication towards her clients and her contribution to the legal profession were also recalled with respect.

Leena Chakraborty breathed her last on August 30, 2026, at ILS Hospital, Kolkata, at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband and only son, according to the condolence resolution.

The Tripura Bar Association conveyed its deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and said it stood firmly beside them during their hour of grief and irreparable loss. Members also prayed for eternal peace and tranquillity for the departed soul and strength and courage for the family to bear the loss.
