CM Manik Saha to Visit Delhi Again, to Address Union Education Ministry Event on Tripura’s 100% Literacy Achievement

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha will leave for New Delhi tomorrow, where he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address as the chief guest at a programme organised by the Union Ministry of Education on Tripura’s achievement of 100 per cent literacy.

The Chief Minister disclosed this during a massive public meeting organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 4-Barjala Mandal. Highlighting the significance of Tripura’s literacy achievement, Dr. Saha said only a limited number of states in the country have been able to attain the milestone of 100 per cent literacy.

According to the Chief Minister, Tripura’s achievement is not confined to the education sector alone. He asserted that the state has been making significant progress across various sectors of development and has emerged among the leading-performing states in several areas.

Dr. Saha further claimed that Tripura has so far received 360 national awards in recognition of its performance and achievements in different fields.

Taking a political swipe at the Opposition, the Chief Minister alleged that the Opposition parties were unable to accept the development achievements of the present government and were therefore attempting to tarnish its image by criticising the government.

However, Dr. Saha maintained that such criticism would not affect the government’s development agenda or the confidence of the people. He expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Tripura in the next Assembly elections as well.

The Chief Minister’s announcement of his Delhi visit comes at a time when Tripura’s literacy achievement is being highlighted at the national level. His scheduled address at the Union Education Ministry’s programme is expected to provide an opportunity to showcase the state’s experience, initiatives and progress in achieving universal literacy.

Dr. Saha also sought to project the literacy milestone as part of the broader development narrative of his government, arguing that Tripura’s performance in education and other sectors has strengthened the state’s position nationally.

The Chief Minister’s remarks at the BJP public meeting thus combined a national-level recognition of Tripura’s literacy achievement with a strong political message ahead of the next Assembly elections, with the Chief Minister asserting that the BJP government would continue its tenure in the state.
