Abhijit Bhattacharjee Conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award for 39 Years of Contribution to Education

In a glittering ceremony held in Central Kolkata on Friday, noted educationist and academician Abhijit Bhattacharjee was conferred with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 39 years of contribution to the field of education.

The award was presented as part of the Banga–Tripura Shiksha Gourav Samman 2026, organised on the occasion of the 64th Teachers’ Day celebration. The honour recognises Bhattacharjee’s longstanding service to education and his contribution to academic development over nearly four decades.

The felicitation programme was organised by Banga–Tripura Moitri Mancha, Desh Bhabna and Vision of Bengal, in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda Vidyamandir. The event was held at the Nalini Guha Auditorium in Central Avenue, Kolkata, and brought together distinguished personalities associated with education and public life.

Bhattacharjee, who has been associated with the education sector for the past 39 years, has made significant contributions to academic development and the promotion of quality education. His latest recognition in Kolkata marks another major milestone in his long academic career.

The Banga–Tripura Shiksha Gourav Samman 2026 has therefore emerged as a significant platform honouring distinguished contributions to education and strengthening the cultural and intellectual ties between Bengal and Tripura.

Distinguished personalities from the fields of education, medicine, social awareness, literature and public life participated in the event. Among the prominent guests present was Professor Biswanath Chakraborty, noted educationist and political analyst,

Mr. Amit Bhadra a former national footballer and Mr. Debasish Datta a prominent journalist.

According to the award profile circulated for the programme, Bhattacharjee has received several prestigious honours during his academic career. He was conferred the Best Academician Award, 2022, by the Government of Tripura, with the award being presented on January 21, 2022, by then Chief Secretary Kumar Alok during celebrations marking 50 years of Tripura’s statehood.
