Tripura’s four students return after ‘Rakhi Purnima’ festival in Rashtrapati Bhawan after meeting the Rashtrapati

For the four little students of Tripura it was a life-time experience which they will cherish for the rest of their lives. The four students, namely, Meheresia Sarkar, Pratik Sarkar, Ricky Deb and Amit Kumar Sarkar had been selected to be guests in the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi on August 27 to meet president Draupadi Murmu as well as to greet her on the ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ day and put around her wrist the consecrated and decorated hand-bands (Rakhis) .
The team of four had been escorted to Delhi by the officer on special duty (OSD) in the education department Abhijit Samajpati and teachers Bishwajit Bhowmik and Biplab Deb. On the appointed day the entire team reached the grand and majestic Rashtrapati Bhawan and put around the wrist of president Draupadi Murmu nicely decorated ‘Rakhis’ (hand bands) prepared by themselves, wishing her all the best. Besides, the team of four students presented the president with a beautiful bamboo and cane made replica of the temple of ‘Mata Tripura Sundari’ and traditional ‘Risha’, an item of Tripura’s traditional tribal attire. Greeting cards made by themselves were also presented to the Rashtrapati by the four students.
The president Draupadi Murmu expressed her great joy over the visit of Tripura students to Rashtrapati Bhawan to meet herself and lauded the rich cultural tradition of Tripura . She thanked the students for sharing the joy and festivity of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ with her by the Tripura students. It was a memorable occasion for all the students and accompanying teachers and officer from Tripura and they spoke effusively about their experience to media persons after their train had rolled into Agartala railway station.
