The veteran Congress MLA Sudip Roybarman was suspended from the state assembly today for the rest of day’s proceedings on charge of unparliamentary behavior by the speaker Rampada Jamatya. Sudip appeared to have come to the assembly with aggressive intent as he stood up to raise the issue of suicidal death of former DGP Anurag Dhankhar at the very beginning of the session, charging the chief minister Dr Manik Saha with misleading the house with a false statement on the issue . Even after the speaker Rampada Jamatya entered the house he continued his ranting over the issue but was directed by the speaker to wait till the zero hour came after the question hour. He relented for the time being.

But as soon as the zero hour came Sudip stood up and raised the issue of the former DGP’s suicide ,asserting that the latter had left a sucide note as attested by his wife and charging the chief minister with making a false statement in the assembly on the issue. He also charged that the suicide note of the DGP had been hushed up by a police officer at the behest of the government. Sudip was supported strongly by the CPI (M) MLAs who also stood up demanding restoration of the suicide note . As there were protests from the treasury bench the Congress and CPI (M) members led by Sudip reached the well of the house and started shouting slogans.

At this point the minister for parliamentary affairs Ratan Lal Nath stood up and asked Sudip to submit to the speaker documentary evidence of his charges but Sudip and other MLAs of the CPI (M) and Congress kept on shouting in the well of the house . They did not relent even after repeated appeals of the speaker Rampada Jamatya to relent and resume their eats but the ruckus continued. Finally the speaker announced the suspension of MLA Sudip Roybarman from today’s proceedings in the house and ordered the marshals to take him out of the house.

At this point , Sudip and other members of the Congress and CPI (M) moved out of the house and Sudip was heard muttering unparliamentary words against the speaker . However, the members of CPI (M) and other members of Congress except Sudip took part in the proceedings. Speaking to media persons in his assembly chamber Sudip later stuck to his charge that the late DGP Anurag Dhankhar had left a suicide note which was snatched away by a police officer and the chief minister did not mention this in his statement while delivering the same in the house on last Friday.
