West Tripura to Begin SIR Exercise from September 5, Draft Electoral Roll to Be Published on 21st oct

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in West Tripura district is set to begin on September 5, with the district administration preparing to undertake a detailed verification and revision exercise aimed at ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll and that no ineligible person is included.

West Tripura District Election Officer and District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS announced the schedule at a press conference held at the State Guest House in Agartala on Friday. The Additional District Magistrate and Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate were also present at the briefing.

According to the district administration, the SIR process will formally commence on September 5. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households and distribute the necessary forms as part of the door-to-door verification exercise.

The house-to-house enumeration process will continue from September 15 to October 14, during which electoral officials will collect and verify the required information from voters. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 21.

Following publication of the draft roll, citizens will be given an opportunity to file claims and objections. The claims and objections period will remain open from October 21 to November 20.

Thereafter, from October 21 to December 19, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) will scrutinise the claims and objections and take appropriate decisions in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

The final electoral roll for West Tripura district is scheduled to be published on December 23.

The district administration said that special emphasis would be placed on ensuring transparency and accuracy throughout the revision process.
