Bishalgarh Anandamarg School observes Shravan Purnima with spiritual programmes

Shravan Purnima and Rakhi Bandhan were observed at Anandamarg School in Bishalgarh on Friday through a series of spiritual and social programmes focused on service, goodwill and fraternity.

The programme began with the garlanding of a portrait of Shri Shri Anandamurtiji and lighting of a lamp, followed by Prabhat Samgiita, ‘Baba Nam Kevalam’ kirtan, self-study, meditation and spiritual discussions.

According to Anandamarg members, Shravan Purnima has special significance in the organisation’s spiritual tradition. They said the day is associated with the initiation of a person known as ‘Kali Dacoit’ by Shri Shri Anandamurtiji at Kashimitra Ghat in Kolkata. He later became known as Acharya Kalikananda Avadhuta.

The Rakhi Bandhan ceremony was held at the school’s Jagriti Hall, where students, teachers and Anandamarg members tied rakhis as a symbol of affection and fraternity.

As part of the social outreach, Anandamarg members formed 13 groups and distributed rakhis among pedestrians, traders and office employees in Bishalgarh market. Rakhis were also tied at the Sepahijala district magistrate’s office, Superintendent of Police’s office, police station and hospital.

The organisers said the observance aimed to promote social harmony and encourage values of service, discipline and fraternity among students.
