Two contractors and a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) trooper were injured and two vehicles damaged following a clash at the Bishramganj RD office premises on Monday, police and local sources said.

The injured contractors were identified as Plaban Saha and Sagar Nag of Bishalgarh. TSR personnel Purnajoy Reang also sustained injuries while reportedly attempting to intervene in the incident. He was later taken to hospital for treatment.

According to local sources, the two contractors had gone to the RD office during the afternoon when a confrontation broke out. Their vehicles were allegedly damaged during the clash.

Police officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, reached the spot following the incident. TSR personnel were subsequently deployed in the area to prevent any further escalation.

The incident has triggered competing accounts about its background. Some political sources alleged that the clash was linked to attempts by Tipra Motha to consolidate influence ahead of the Village Committee elections. Other sources described it as an internal dispute within the ruling camp that spilled into a public confrontation.

Bishalgarh and Charilam have witnessed political tensions over local influence in recent years, with rivalries reportedly involving groups within the ruling alliance as well as competing political interests.

The allegations regarding the cause of the clash could not be independently verified. No immediate response was available from Tipra Motha or other parties named in connection with the incident.
