In a significant development the elected member of Shalgarah panchayat Lilu Mia (44) in Tepania block under Udaipur subdivision tendered his resignation from membership of the panchayat and officially conveyed his decision in writing to the BDO of Shalgarah block. Sources from Shalgarah said that Lilu Mia had called the people of his ward who had elected him to his residence and showed them evidences of the collective plundering of government fund by other members and the panchayat chief on Thursday night. He also posted a video in social media exposing instances of loot of public fund by the panchayat body.
In his social media post Lilu Mia said that the fishery department had sanctioned fishlets worth Rs 30 thousand in the name of his own mother for releasing them in his ancestral pond but after going to office he found none as the entire stock had been looted by other members of the panchayat.Similarly he found that saplings of betel nut and banana sanctioned in his favour had also been looted by other members. “I was unable to do a single work for people in my ward as there is total anarchy and collective plundering of government money in the panchayat in Shalgarah” said Lilu Mia.
He regretted that in the run-up to the elections in 2018 he had organized the Muslim people of his ward in favour of BJP ,hoping that welfare work for the people would be done . But later on he found not a single Muslim family of the area had been given sanction for pucca latrine even though 7 latrines had been sanctioned by the government. Out of frustration Lilu Mia called up people of his ward to his home on Thursday night and said that he was going to resign because he was unable to do anything for them. Yesterday he sent his letter of resignation to the BDO , Shalgarah citing his personal problems and health issues as reasons for resignation.
