AMC’s Ward no-39 take special initiative for ‘Durga Puja’, media interaction held by Mayor and Corporator Alak Roy

Even though the annual ‘Durga Puja’ is still two months away, the Ward no-39 of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) represented by Alak Roy as corporator as well as the Mayor Dipak Majumder have taken a special initiative to ensure a clean , trouble-free and environment friendly ‘Durga Puja’ festival this year. The corporator Alak Roy and the AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder today held an interactive session with the media this morning in the Ward no-39 office on the issue of upcoming ‘Durga Puja’ festival.

While appealing to ‘Puja’ organisers to make the community ‘Pujas’ more beautiful, disciplined, smooth and environment friendly the Mayor and the Corporator said that this time the AMC will give a number of awards for successful organization of ‘Durga Puja’ to various clubs . “We have decided to reward clubs and social organisations on a number of heads like ‘best images of deities’, ‘best pandal’, ‘best puja on small budget’, ‘best puja for dissemination of environmental awareness’, ‘best discipline’ and ‘best souvenir’, said AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder and Corporator Alak Roy.

This year lot of importance will be given to highlight the importance and contrimbution of Rishi Bankim Chandra in the history of post-independence India to connect the current generation of youths with culture and literature. “Durga Puja’ is not only a religious festival but also a socio-cultural festival and an important part of the history and culture of Tripura and its tradition” said Dipak Majumder. He appealed to all the would-be ‘Puja’ organisers to be conscious of their responsibilities. The Corporator of Ward no-39 Alak Roy said that all the ‘Puja’ organisers will be rewarded in a function to be held in the auditorium of Arundhati Nagar HS school on the evening of November 1 .
