The School Education Department has issued 30 show-cause notices following surprise inspections of schools and hostels under various Education Inspectorates in West Tripura, officials said on Thursday.

Two Cluster Resource Persons were also served notices for alleged negligence of duty, while salaries of three employees were stopped after major misconduct was detected.

The inspections were conducted by Officers on Special Duty of the Directorate of Elementary Education under the supervision of the Director of School Education.

The teams assessed academic activities, foundational learning initiatives, NIPUN Tripura and pre-primary programmes, besides checking teacher-made teaching-learning materials, activity-based learning and NIPUN Corners.

Implementation of PM POSHAN, food quality, hygiene, attendance, sanitation, classroom teaching and student assessment were also reviewed. Officials visited hostels and interacted with School Management Committee members and guardians.

The department said deficiencies were recorded and action initiated according to the seriousness of the lapses.

Meanwhile, three schools received appreciation certificates for good academic practices. Follow-up inspections found improvement in several schools, particularly pre-primary units.

The department said surprise inspections would continue, with similar monitoring planned for secondary and higher secondary schools.
