Tripura’s golden girl Asmita in Amitava Bachhan’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’

During the past twenty six years since 2000 AD the live quiz show conducted by evergreen superstar Amitava Bachhan under the banner of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ has emerged as a national crush for TV viewers as well as quiz entusiasts. In this long time-span many stalwarts who have made India proud with their achievements in different spheres of activities have adorned the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ quiz show which also yields huge cash prizes to successful participants selected through audition.

The last Monday night (9-00 PM-10-30 PM) was an occasion of pride for people of Tripura as the state’s golden girl Asmita De who had made India proud by winning a gold medal in 48-KG judo in the just-concluded common wealth games (CWG) at Glasgow in Wales appeared on the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ with Amitava Bachhan as the quiz master. Asmita was accompanied in this show by the boxing medalist Lovelina Borgohoin, para power lifting medalist Jhandu Kumar and para atheletics shot put medalist Sharmila Dhankhar.

With the towering Big B-as Amitava Bachhan is called by fans-sitting in front the medal winners told their personal stories of struggle against poverty, commitment and constant fight against odds. Amitava listened intently and encouraged them all with anecdotes of his own life in youth when he had to face a series of rejections and a string of failures before making it big through the first hit film ‘Zanzeer’ . Asmita disclosed how she had overcome the pain of her father’s untimely death months before she was to participate in the CWG and how she continued practicing for the games. All three participants had their own stories to tell. With the spectators in the KBC studio applauding all along the show on Monday night was a grand success and Amitava enthused all of them with his words of advice.
