Dr Parmita Sen, a doctor currently undertaking an internship at a hospital in Kolkata, has publicly appealed for the safety and security of her parents following an alleged attack at their residence in Kalachara, Sabroom, South Tripura yesterday night.

In a Facebook post published yesterday, Dr Sen appealed directly to Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha, expressing grave concern over the safety of her father, Mrinal Sen, and mother, Gita Majumdar Sen. She alleged that a group of allegedly land mafias had attacked her parents and brother, Tanmoy Sen, at their residence at around 8 pm.

Dr Sen further alleged that her mother was subjected to an attempted act of sexual misconduct during the incident and claimed that the family had subsequently received threats. She appealed to the Chief Minister and the authorities to intervene and ensure the protection of her parents.

According to the allegations made by Dr Sen, the incident is connected to a dispute over the family's residential land. The family has alleged that there was an attempt to illegally take possession of their property and that their political association with the CPI(M) was also a factor behind the alleged targeting.

Significantly, as of the time of publication, there has been no publicly available report indicating any arrest of the alleged perpetrators or confirming significant police action in connection with the incident. It is also not clear whether an FIR has been registered, what sections of law may have been invoked, or whether the alleged victims have been provided police protection.
