The transport department of the Tripura is seized with the idea of giving a green-signal for a rise in the fare charged by long and short-distance buses that ply between different destinations within the state. This was stated by the minister for transport Sushanta Chowdhury in a conversation with the media persons in the state secretariat yesterday. Sushanta said that the bus owner syndicates had met him several times with plea for increase in fare but the matter remained stalled in public interest . But now it seems that a green signal for a hike needs to be given , he said , adding that announcement in this regard will be made after consultation in the state cabinet meeting.
Along with bus fare the government is also considering a hike in the fare charged by the autorickshaws and a committee for going into the fare hike issue for buses and autorickshaws will be constituted in the current . He further said that online services of autorickshaws from the MBB airport to different locations in and around Agartala will be tightened and kept under strict vigil while a new online service of autorickshaws and other vehicles to and from Agartala railway station will also be introduced soon. This will be done in the interest of passengers who will come to Tripura and leave the state by air or railway service.
