Dharmanagar Hotel Owner Files Police Complaint Against 3 ‘So-Called Journalists’ Over Alleged False Sex-Racket Propaganda and Money Demand

A hotel owner in Dharmanagar has filed a police complaint against three persons identifying themselves as journalists, alleging that they entered his hotel without permission, allegedly abused and threatened hotel staff, and spread what he described as false claims that a sex racket and other immoral activities were being operated from the premises. The hotel owner has also alleged that the three persons subsequently demanded money from him in connection with the episode.

The complaint was filed at Dharmanagar Police Station by Prabal Dey, owner of Babu Moshai Hotel in Dharmanagar. In his complaint, Dey named Kaushik Adhikari, Suman Debnath and Banti Dey as the accused and described them as “so-called journalists.”

According to the complaint, the incident unfolded over August 7 and 8 and subsequently created tension around the hotel.

Dey stated that Kaushik Adhikari had arrived in Dharmanagar from Agartala on August 7 and checked into the hotel after completing the required formalities and submitting the necessary documents. A room was subsequently allotted to him, according to the hotel owner.

The hotel owner alleged that on the evening of August 8, the other two persons entered the hotel without permission and went to the room occupied by Adhikari. At around 8:30–9 pm, Dey allegedly received a telephone call during which abusive and objectionable language was used against him.

According to the complaint, the hotel manager later went to the room and asked the persons present to leave the premises. Dey alleged that the manager found them consuming alcohol inside the room without permission. When the manager objected, he was allegedly subjected to verbal abuse and threats.

The situation reportedly escalated after allegations began circulating that immoral or illegal sexual activities were being conducted at the hotel. Dey has categorically denied the allegations and claimed that the claims were deliberately spread to damage the reputation of his establishment.

The hotel owner further alleged that the persons concerned entered Room No. 102 without permission and took photographs using their mobile phones. He claimed that they subsequently told people in the locality that a sex racket or similar illegal activity was operating from the hotel.

The alleged publicity reportedly led to people gathering around the hotel, creating confusion and tension in the locality. Dey has claimed that the subsequent circulation of the allegations through different media channels adversely affected the reputation and business of the hotel.

Apart from the allegations mentioned in the written complaint, hotel owner Prabal Dey has verbally made a further serious allegation against the three so-calledjournalists.

Dey has alleged that the three so-called journalists demanded money from him in connection with the incident and the subsequent publicity surrounding the hotel. According to the hotel owner, the alleged demand was linked to the adverse claims being circulated against his hotel.
