Two College Students Drown While Making Reels During Bathing Trip in Khowai Ichhalichhara Switch Gate area of Dhalabil

A tragic incident in Khowai has claimed the lives of two college students who reportedly drowned while bathing with friends near the Ichhalichhara Switch Gate area of Dhalabil.
The deceased have been identified as Mandeep Pal (20), a resident of Dhala Bil Deolia Tila, and Bhishma Das Choudhury (20), a resident of Bankar in Khowai.
According to preliminary information, the two Khowai college students had gone to the stream near the Ichhalichhara Switch Gate along with three other friends. The group reportedly entered the water to bathe and was also making videos and reels on mobile phones. During the activity, Mandeep and Bhishma are believed to have slipped or lost their footing and drowned in the deep water.
The incident has left their friends, families and local residents in deep shock. Both victims were reportedly young college students and were known among their friends as active and cheerful youths.
Local sources said the incident occurred suddenly, leaving the accompanying friends unable to prevent the tragedy. The bodies were subsequently recovered from the water, and further details regarding the circumstances of the drowning are awaited.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the risks associated with entering unfamiliar water bodies, particularly while using mobile phones for making videos or reels. Authorities and local residents have urged young people to exercise extreme caution near streams, rivers, reservoirs and other potentially dangerous water bodies.
