Sonamura youth arrested in Agartala railway station with ‘Ganja’ consignment

Despite police operations the smuggling of ‘Ganja’ in different parts of the state has been continuing unabated. This came out in sharp relief yesterday in Agartala railway station as a youth from Madhuban area under Sonamura police was arrested by railway police and later handed over to Amtoli police station.

Giving details police sources said that acting on a tip-off a team of railway police yesterday caught hold of a youth named Hasibul Hasan (26) at 2-00 PM from the space between the platform and the toilet on its opposite side. A consignment of 12.465 kg of ‘Ganja’ that cost more than Rs 2 lakhs in the black market. The OC of the GRP police station Raju Bhowmik said that they had feedback in advance of the ‘Ganja’ consignment being smuggled and they found Hasibul Hasan moving stealthily on the space between railway platform no-1 and the toilet and caught hold of him. The ‘Ganja’ consignment was recovered from a sky colour trolley bag which Hasibul had been carrying .

Later on nabbed Hasibul was handed over to Amtoli police station for subsequent legal action. Sources said that Hasibul is being produced in court today for remand and he will be interrogated intensively to extract information about the full ‘Ganja’ network as part of which he was working.
