The government initiative to construct an Eco-park in the Satero Miar Hawor in Kailasahar has landed into controversy as the MLA of the locality and former Congress president Birajit Sinha alleged that the government is depriving the land owners of the actual price of the land. He did not oppose the development project but demanded that the landowners get their land's legitimate price.
Addressing a Press Conference he said another project also was taken during the previous Left Front Government. At that time also project was also formulated to deprive the landowners and ultimately the project did not materialize. He said the government must take the concerns of the land owners into account if they are sincere about its implementation.
There are at least 50 persons who are not willing to hand over the land as the compensation announced by the government is too inadequate. He said farmers earn at least 15 to 18 thousand rupees from one kani of land in the area where the Fisheries Department is offering only Rs 3000 per year. It is too inadequate as many of the families are dependent of income from this land.
